Produced by <strong>The Academy of Motion Picture, Arts and Sciences<\/strong> in partnership with <strong>Festa del Cinema di Roma<\/strong>, the collaboration of<strong> ASC, Istituto Luce Cinecitt\u00e0<\/strong> and the support of <strong>Swarovski<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Dresses, costumes, ornaments and accessories are fundamental in the creation of the characters that live in the cinema, they are intrinsically woven into the fabric that makes a film a work of art.<\/p>\n<p>Prof. Landis, PhD, is a director of David C. Copley Center for Costume Design, UCLA and a Member of the Academy\u2019s Costume Designers Branch.\u00a0 She is a professional veteran who dressed Harrison Ford in Raiders of the Lost Ark and made the red leather jacket that Michael Jackson wore in Thriller.<\/p>\n<p>She will analyze the secrets of this trade and discuss the role of the costume designer with colleagues <strong>Daniela Ciancio<\/strong> (<strong><em>The Great Beauty, Il Divo, Mission Impossible III<\/em><\/strong>),\u00a0 <strong>Eva Coen<\/strong> (<strong><em>Adored, Let\u2019s Mambo<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>Crimes<\/em><\/strong>) <strong>Stefano de Nardis<\/strong> (<strong><em>Coco Chanel, All the Money in the World, Catch-22<\/em><\/strong>), Oscar winner <strong>Gabriella Pescucci<\/strong> (<strong><em>The Age of Innocence, Once Upon a Time in America, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory<\/em><\/strong>) and <strong>Carlo Poggioli<\/strong> (<strong>Cold Mountain, Divergent, Youth, The young Pope<\/strong>).\u00a0\u00a0 Together they will debate the importance of costumes in film and how this helps the public to identify with the characters.<\/p>\n<p>The event is presented by Swarovski.\u00a0 Their support for costume designers dates back to the Hollywood of over 85 years ago, with iconic moments like Marilyn Monroe&#8217;s in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany\u2019s.
