The nominations will be announced in Los Angeles on 22 January 2019, with the official awards ceremony due to take place on 24 February.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0ANICA-established commission chose Garrone&#8217;s film from 21 nominated titles, all of which were distributed in Italian cinemas from 1 October 2017 to 30 September 2018. Other films in the running included\u00a0<em>Happy as Lazzaro<\/em>\u00a0by\u00a0Alice Rohrwacher, awarded at Cannes with a Special Jury Mention. Also screened in competition at Cannes Film Festival last year,\u00a0<em>Dogman\u00a0<\/em>won the La Palma Award for\u00a0<strong>Marcello Fonte<\/strong>\u2019s performance and has received widespread acclaim from critics and viewers alike.\u00a0<em>Dogman<\/em>\u00a0took \u20ac2.6 million at the Italian box office, won seven Nastri d&#8217;Argento Awards and has since been sold by\u00a0Rai Com\u00a0in over 40 countries (Magnolia Pictures has acquired the rights for North America). The film was produced by\u00a0Archimede,\u00a0Le Pacte\u00a0and\u00a0Rai Cinema, with support from\u00a0Eurimages, and the regions of Lazio and Campania.<\/p>\n<p>The last Italian film to win the award was\u00a0Paolo Sorrentino\u2019s\u00a0<em>The Great Beauty<\/em>\u00a0in 2014.
